Chromatic Studio created the cover illustration for Masters of the Universe: The Art of the Film, the official 224-page hardcover companion to the upcoming live-action feature. Published by Mattel Press and written by Dan Jolin, the book includes a foreword from Travis Knight, exclusive crew interviews, and full-color imagery documenting the full production, from Prince Adam's redesigned armor to the dark architecture of Skeletor's world.
For anyone who grew up in the 80s, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe needs no introduction. Born from Mattel's action figure line and immortalized by the Filmation animated series, the franchise gave us Castle Grayskull, Skeletor, and one of the most enduring battle cries in pop culture history. Decades later, Eternia is getting its most ambitious reimagining yet: a live-action feature film directed by Travis Knight, hitting screens in June 2026.
Building Eternia: A Look Inside the Art of the Film
For people who care about how films are made, art books like this are where the real story lives. Characters, creatures, environments, the decisions behind every design choice, all of it documented before the finished film makes those choices feel inevitable.
How Chromatic Studio Helped Bring Eternia to Life
Chromatic Studio worked directly with production designer Guy Hendrix throughout pre-production, contributing concept art across environments and characters. The work ranged from early landscape explorations to detailed character designs, all in service of making Eternia feel like a place worth believing in. We're proud to have been part of this project from the ground up, and we can't wait for June.
